Agricultural School Receives Helping Hands

    News Release

    22 NOVEMBER 2018 Queensland, Australia

On a beautiful clear morning recently, around 350 members of the newly formed Beenleigh Stake (diocese) of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints converged on the Beenleigh State High School for a world-wide day of service.

Children, youth and adults came together, working shoulder to shoulder to give meaningful service to a school that gives so much to the community.

As an agricultural school, Beenleigh State High School has, as part of a wide curriculum, classes on animal and environmental care. As part of this clean-up effort, members of the Church found themselves tidying paddocks, picking and packing strawberries, trimming grass and shrubs, and generally tidying gardens and grounds. Children there with their parents also had a chance to see newly born lambs in their natural environment.

School Principal, Matt O’Hanlon said, “We are really grateful for all the work the church members did to help around the school grounds and it has made a big difference.”
